7. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen
A prisoner dubbed Yotarō, which translates to “anti-hero”, is released from prison during Japan’s Showa Genroku era (1600s to early 1700s).
Returning to society, he begins a new life by creating rakugo – a form of comic storytelling.
Initially a manga by Haruko Kumota, which bagged the “Best General Manga” prize at the 38th Kodansha Manga Awards and the Excellence Award at the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards, the anime is directed by Mamoru Hatakeyama of Sankarea: Undying Love.
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen is the second season of Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu and continues following the lives of the the rakugo creators.
It’s scheduled for a January 7, 2017 premiere.
