Looks like a Vainglory team has struck it big and been acquired by a well-known e-sports franchise. Renegades, known for their e-sports teams in  Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Paladins, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. has dipped its toes into the Vainglory scene by acquiring Infamous,  one of Vainglory’s longest-standing guilds.

The team’s first taste of competition under the Renegades banner will come during the Vainglory 2017 World Championship at Singapore’s Kallang Theatre from December 14 to the 17. Super Evil Megacorp, the creators of Vainglory, will host Renegades in a show-match that will serve as the unveiling of the game’s long-awaited 5v5 mode.

“Infamous is one of the most well-known and successful teams in the history of Vainglory
esports, and it’s only fitting that they would be included in this milestone event in Singapore, where we both crown a world champion and celebrate the Vainglory community in Southeast Asia as a whole,” said Evan Denbaum, General Manager of Esports & Editorial for Super Evil Megacorp.

“The global unveiling of Vainglory 5v5 is the most anticipated moment since Vainglory initially launched, and it will be incredible to have Renegades be the first to set foot onto the new map in front of a global audience.”

Infamous has been a major player in the Vainglory arena since Season 2 of the Vainglory International Premier League and up to Vainglory Worlds 2016, with numerous tournament wins in between.

The team is led by Justin “spaghetti” Bersamin, and also includes Ching “Chingy” Yang, Terence “Tezzaboy98” Leung Cheuk Yin, Adem “SnkEA“ Lebeidi, Thanakit “uNi” Vongmanee along with Coach and Analyst Bryan “Aeon222” Tay.

“When we first started our team, it was our goal to come this far in the competitive scene as to be recognized by an organisation like Renegades,” said Bersamin. “We have been training ever since the formation of our new team roster and we are ready to show what we are worth.”
