HBO has confirmed that the eighth season of Game of Thrones would be its last, as they’ve had a rather specific plan on the number of seasons they’ve planned to make.

“If I could get them to do more, I would take 10 seasons,” said Casey Bloys, HBO’s new progamming exec.

“But we want to take their lead with what they can do and what the best version of the show is.”

There is also a possibility of a spinoff for the show or a continuation in some form or other for Game of Thrones, but as of the moment any plans, if any, aren’t set in stone.

Season seven for the show has been confirmed to run for just seven episodes and it will hit the air Summer 2017, with the delay being attributed to warmer weather.
