Phone Arena was recently sent three leaked photos of what seems to be the premium version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 aka the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime and boy does it look sweet. Of course when compared to the current plastic builds of the S5, it isn’t that hard to beat. It’s supposedly coming with an aluminum body but a chassis upgrade isn’t the only thing we can look forward to.
The S5 Prime is also expected to get a power boost in hardware. The processor? A quad-core Snapdragon 805 compare to the current Snapdragon 801 CPU. The GPU? An Adreno 420 to the current Adreno 330. We’re also looking at a 1GB memory boost to 3GB compared to the standard s5’s 2GB. A boost in power isn’t the only hardware upgrade we’ll ought to be getting with the S5 Prime. It’s also expected to have a boost in it’s screen pushing it up from a 1080 x 1920 resolution to a 5.2 inch QHD screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution. Now that’s a pretty sweet bunch of upgrades we’re seeing.
Caveat though, as much as we’re excited to list all this improvements, Samsung has yet to announce the phone so we’ll just have to wait till next month, which is when it’s expected to be announced, to really confirm all the upgrades.
So the S5 prime seems like a great phone with great specs and we’re all for another souped out super smartphone to hit the market. Only problem is, what about current Galaxy S5 owners? We’re pretty sure there’s going to be a couple of rumbling from current owners since Samsung could have pushed out this particular version instead of the one we currently had. How Samsung is going to address the issue is going to be mighty interesting.
