The next game to join the Kingdom Hearts series hits later this week in English is none other than Kingdom Hearts Unchained X. The game launched in Japan last year but the game is finally seeing its debut in English on Android and iOs.
The free to play RPG is set just prior to the Keyblade War and features your own character as a Keyblade wielder. Its based on the browser game Kingdom Hearts X and will feature both new characters as well as well-known Disney characters from within the franchise.
Unchained X does tie in to Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue; with an hourlong (!) cinematic based on the scenes in the game, called Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover will be included in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 game. Which we still don’t know when will be released.
However, Unchained X will be playable by those unfamiliar with the story.
“I would love for people who have not yet played Kingdom Hearts to take this opportunity to casually jump right in with a blank slate,” Nomura said in an official Q&A.
