The Jabra Step Wireless

Jabra’s a name that most of us have heard of when it comes to wireless headsets and they’ve recently unveiled  four new headsets here in Malaysia.

So what are they? Well two are wireless stereo headsets, the Jabra Step Wireless and Jabra Rox Wireless, perfect for those of us who want our dose of tunes while on the go. The other two are ergonomic Bluetooth headsets, the Jabra Storm and Jabra Stealth, offering ergonomic and cool looking designs for the inner yuppie in you.

So what do you get out of these four new headsets? Lets start with the wireless stereo headsets. Wireless stereo headsets are perfect for music lovers on the go but the biggest barrier has always been price. A good pair could cost anywhere above the RM400 range. The new Jabra Step Wireless however, has broken that barrier by being priced at a pretty decent RM249. At a sub-RM300 price you’ll get some decent stereo sound, noise isolating earbuds, up to four hours of talk/music time with 144 hours of standby time, and its even weather and dust proof with an IP52 rating. It’s just nice for users who are looking for a basic wireless stereo headset and are on a budget.

What if you’ve got some moolah to burn though? Well then there’s the Jabra Rox Wireless which is available at RM469. Of course it’s not just an award winning design (Red Dot Product Design 2014) that you’re getting for the extra cash you’re shelling out. You’ll also get an upgrade in sound quality compared to the Jabra Step Wireless courtesy of the Dolby Digital Plus sound enhancement. That’s not all either, there’s also power saving magnets when earbuds are not in use, a  speakerphone capability with in-built omni-directional microphone and  in-line controls for easy call and management. There’s also NFC support as well so pairing with your NFC enabled mobile device is a synch. You also gets a little more juice with 5.5 hours of battery life with 18 days of stand-by on a single charge. Like the Jabra Step Wireless it’s also IP52 rated so it’s weather and dust proof.

With these two wireless stereo headsets, you can be sure that your mobile music listening will definitely be a lot more convenient.

So that’s the wireless stereo headsets. How about the other two? Both the Jabra Stealth and Jabra Storm, come with the company’s microPOWER Technology. And what is that exactly? It basically reduces the size of the device batteries while giving it a boost in efficiency, so both the Jabra Stealth and Storm have longer talk times and usage while keeping a small and sexy design. Both headsets offer similar features; Bluetooth 4.0, NFC support, smartphone voice control, Noise Blackout noise cancellation tech and Jabra Assist. What sets them apart from each other though are two things: design and battery life.

The Jabra Storm

The Jabra Stealth for example offers, like it’s name suggests, a more discrete look with its candy bar design. And with 6 hours of talk time and an energy saving  PowerNap function, this headset will last pretty long. The Jabra Storm is shaped more like a call operator’s headset and is design for long usage comfort. That’s also reflected in its battery life that gives users up to 10 hours of talk time. So it really depends what you’re looking for. A discrete companion on the road or something more for long term comfort. Whichever you choose though, both do come at the same price of RM279.
