ASUS recently launched not one but two new devices for the Malaysian market, the much awaited ASUS Transformer T300 Chi which was initially announced at CES this year alongside a brand new ZenBook device the UX305.

The ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi is a razor-thin two in one Windows hybrid tablet PC with a detachable keyboard. Built for both work and play, the laptop essentially transforms into a tablet when you remove the magnetized keyboard and it comes with Windows 8.1 out of the box.

Under the hood there is a Intel Core M processor in an all aluminum fanless design, a 12.5 inch IPS display with a dense 235ppi pixel density; higher than a MacBook Air’s 127ppi. There’s also 4GB of RAM under the hood and 128GB SSD for storage. It is a little heavy though, at 1.43 kg it feels most of the weight is concentrated at the keyboard area.

The Chi will be hitting the market at the end of March for RM 3,199.

Also announced was ASUS’s new ZenBook UX305 13.3 inch laptop that’s just 12.3mm thin. Very slim and light, the ultraportable laptop also packs an Intel Core M processor, Windows 8.1, 128GB or 256GB SSD, 4GB and optional 8GB RAMconfiguration, HD 720p CMOS module camera and a 13.3 inch IPS at 1920 x 1080. The laptop only weighs a lightweight 1.2kg and is made more for people on the go but doesn’t compromise on performance. The Zenbook UX305 comes in two configurations, starting from RM 2,399.

The X-Files is happening soon?

The iconic couple of the series
The iconic couple of the series
The iconic couple of the series

UPDATE: FOX announced that the game is on with six episodes with Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson on board.

Not long ago, co-chairman of FOX, Gary Newman talked about the network’s effort to revive the old science fiction series The X-Files for a new season. Not only that, it is reported that the two main stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are available for the revival plus the creator of the show himself, Chris Carter is on board too. Previously, FOX stated that they will not go forward with the franchise if Chris Carter is not in the project.

According to TV Wise, the channel is close to clinching a deal with the parties involved to create six to eight episodes of the revived series.

FOX is hoping to get the filming start by this summer since it is fits into working schedules of the intended two main stars. The short series will enable the creator, Chris Carter to wrap up the open ending left by the last X-Files movie while at the same time gauging the interest of the series with the current TV watchers. He will write for every episode while serving as the executive producer of the project.

What’s more, Mitch Pileggi who playing the role of Walter Skinner is expected to make a comeback for this series too. Judging from the success of the revived 24, hopefully, the positive pattern will be repeated for The X-Files.

Hideo Kojima is leaving Konami?

Hmmmmm
Hmmmmm

Hideo Kojima, one of the most famous names in Japanese gaming is rumoured to be leaving Konami after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Kojima is no longer listed as an executive at Konami and Kojima Productions at Los Angeles has been rebranded as Konami Los Angeles Studios. Not only that, the online marketing materials for the latest Metal Gear Solid removes the iconic description: “A Hideo Kojima Game” plus the twitter of @Kjima Pro Live has been changed to @metalgear_en too.

According to sources at the Japanese game company in the report by Gamespot, “After we finish [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain], Mr. Kojima and upper management [of Kojima Productions] will leave Konami.”

A number of upper management of Kojima Productions including Mr Kojima himself ended their contracts last December. Many speculations started from this Kojima’s tweet on 16 March:

However, Konami denies the split with this statement:

As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business. Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima), will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements.

In another press statement, Konami also said this:

The latest title in the Metal Gear series,Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be released as planned starting on Tuesday, September 1st, 2015 in North America, Latin America, and Europe, followed by Japan and Asia on Wednesday, September 2nd. Hideo Kojima will remain involved throughout.

Now, what about the man himself? This is what he has to say:

I want to reassure fans that I am 100% involved and will continue working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; I’m determined to make it the greatest game I’ve directed to date. Don’t miss it!

Some fans are questioning what will happen to him after the release of the latest title though, speculations are rife. If this is true, this marks another major departure of creative force from Konami which just saw two of their best brains behind their hugely successful dating sim game genre left the company not long ago.

Just what is going on at Konami?

Nintendo is planning some new gaming hardware

nintendo 2DS

Nintendo apparently has a new device in the works, currently going by the codename NX.

Details are vague as ever, at the moment there’s no telling what Nintendo’s attempting to cook up, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated that they were planning on surprising players to change their video gaming life in some shape and form, and the new device is unlikely to be following the same formula as their extremely popular 3DS platform and the Wii.

Chances are, if Nintendo is going to step out of it’s comfort zone, their new gaming console could very well be VR related because well, everyone else is doing it too. We don’t have any specifics yet, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Alright, we all knew what is the general synopsis and date of when this major blockbuster will come so let’s get down to the latest TV spot which give more glimpse that is not shown in previous trailers so far. We got to see the Captain do bike flipping and Thor bats Captain America’s shield for some Asgaard inspired baseball.

One interesting bit of trivia here is Ultron’s final form, Ultron Prime is made of vibranium which is similar material that is used to make Captain America’s shield. It also ties in the connection to the upcoming MCU movie, Black Panther since vibranium is only available in Black Panther’s African homeland, Wakanda.

We can barely wait for 1 May 2015.

Kaio: King of Pirates cancelled

Kaio: King of Pirates
Kaio: King of Pirates

Keiji Inafune and his studio had been working on Kaio: King of Pirates since the announcement back in 2012 and last news that we all knew that it is delayed to 2014 release as a 3DS title. Now the publisher, Marvelous said it is dead for sure, with announcement of the cancellation in their latest press release.

The cancelled game supposed to be based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms but using animal characters instead of historical figures. Inafune who is famous for Megaman franchise, plans to make it a trilogy and stressed that he could present the classical story to be more appealing to the Western gamers just like how Dragonball is based on Journey to the West.

In the press release, this game is meant to be a mainstay IP for the publisher but few reasons cited as to why they reached the decision to terminate the development. Among them is the sudden, unpredictable changes in the marketplace and complications arose during their plan to produce it in a mixed media setup.

The publisher lost a whopping sum of US$3.8 million (461 million yen).

Micheal Biehn is back in Aliens sequel

The man himself

I like to keep this for close encounters

Remember that line from Aliens (1986)? It is said by Corporal Hicks played by Micheal Biehn. Well, apparently, he is back in the Neill Blomkamp’s yet untitled Alien sequel.

Posting on Instagram when he responded to a comment regarding his scheduled appearance at convention in UK, he stated this : “I’m not looking at scheduling conflicts with the Sheffield Comic Con, due to my contract for Aliens to begin filming during then.

In the original art concept for Alien by the director of Elysium and Chappie, the Colonial Marines Corporal Hicks was featured so it is not surprising when Fox give a go ahead to the director, Micheal Biehn is back in the franchise again. Another notable comeback as noted in the last report, Sigourney Weaver is back as Ripley.

One thing for sure, the nostalgia glow is getting strong with this upcoming sequel to Alien. All we can hope is it will be given a proper send off and forever erase the bad taste in the mouth from the other Alien movies after the James Cameron’s version.
