For the first time ever, a Star Wars movie will be picking up directly where the previous one left off; with Star Wars: Episode VIII to do just that.

Director Rian Johnson revealed the little tidbit at the recent Star Wars Celebration when he was talking a bit on the movies.

There isn’t much else we know about the movie as of yet, besides that it will release on 15 December 2017.

For starters, he claims that they will be breaking tradition by starting off Episode VIII exactly where The Force Awakens left off; with the next film focusing on the characters, “getting to the heart of them and challenging them.” Most of the cast of The Force Awakens will be returning to reprise their roles, including Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, just to name a few.
