The popular seinen manga series Vinland Saga/ヴィンランド・サガ will have a new announcement coming October this year.

Vinland Saga is written by mangaka Makoto Yukimura (Planetes) since April 2005 in Weekly Shonen Magazine before it moves to Monthly Afternoon magazine. So far, 16 tankubon volumes of the historical fiction manga are already out and it is vastly popular with Japanese and foreign manga fans alike. Commercially, it has sold about 1.2 million copies for its first five volumes as of June 2008 and has appeared a few times on the Taiyosha top ten best selling manga list.

The series was nominated for the 2008 Manga Taisho award, winning the Grand Prize for manga section in Japan Media Arts. It also clinched the top Best Manga in 36th Kodansha Manga Award too. Highly praised for fluid action and its historical setting, fans have been waiting for the day an anime adaptation of the series will happen. Now, with this announcement, the hopes are high but fans cautious too, since such last announcement was just a story teaser.

Now we can only hope this brutal and intense manga series will be adapted by Production I.G. or ufotable with high production values. We can dream about it, right?
