9. Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack
Combine the horror of being attack by any aquatic species (think Jaws, Piranha). Now imagine the general creepiness you get by seeing insect swarm all over ANYTHING. Combine those two together and you get setting for Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack. Now don’t laugh, the title sounds like something out of a SyFy B movie like Sharknado but when this anime actually manages to make it work. Not surprising considering this is the work of horror manga maestro Junji Ito (Tomie)
In these anime OVA, the a group of friends are vacationing in a summer house when they find something inexplicable, a fish with metallic legs. Within hours many more of these sea creatures with mettalic legs are swarming into Tokyo and attacking the people and its up to the main characters to try to escape and survive.
Despite the schlocky premise, this is truly a horrifying anime. Just imagining all those fish with legs crawling all over you and then spearing and attacking you will just creep you out. It is said that the source manga is a lot more creepier and smarter in comparison but if you’re going to be creeped out by a potential aquatic animal armageddon, this is the anime for you.
