6. The rise of the tiny heroes
2015 is set to be a big year for some very small heroes, with the profiles of both Marvel’s Ant-Man and DC’s Atom getting a huge boost.
The Scott Lang version of Ant-Man had a pretty good 2014, finishing his stint as temporary leader of the FF by not just defeating, but utterly humiliating Doctor Doom. After the events of AXIS, he got another surprise, when Dr Doom, in his inverted “heroic” state, managed to resurrect his daughter Cassie!
This year should be even better for our mini mighty man, as he will not only be getting his own solo title (Ant-Man), but also his very own movie, starring Paul Rudd as Lang and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man).
Over at DC’s Arrow TV show, having spent half a season building up Ray Palmer before finally revealing his A.T.O.M. suit, the second half of the season should see Palmer donning the suit, though if the suit’s previous name (O.M.A.C) is any indication, it probably won’t go according to plan…
What we’ve listed here is probably just the tip of the iceberg in terms of comics this year. We haven’t even talked about the new titles Image Comics will be coming out, Alan Moore’s upcoming stint on Crossed, and all the post-Star Wars plans Dark Horse has lined up. And with this being the year before DC unleashes their own cinematic universe, you can be sure that there are going to be a whole lot more things to get excited about before 2016 comes around.
