2. Wonder Woman
While we could have done without that whole romance with Superman, there really is no doubt that Wonder Woman is still DC’s number one girl.
First, there was that sensational reveal of Gal Gadot in her Wonder Woman costume at San Diego Comic Con. The jury may still be out on whether she can pull off the character on Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, but at least Gadot looks GOOD in that costume. It was also announced that she will be getting her own movie in 2017, directed by Michelle MacLaren.
On the comics front, however, we said goodbye to one of the DC New 52’s best creative teams as Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang’s run on Wonder Woman ended in November, bringing to a close arguably one of the most important and sensational runs the Amazonian Princess has ever had.
Azzarello and Chiang’s influence on the character has been massive. By changing her origin (instead of being carved from clay, she is now a daughter of Zeus), anointing her the all-new God Of War, and pitting her against the gods and goddesses of Olympus, they gave Diana her own pocket universe to grow and develop outside of the main DC universe. New Wonder Woman creative team David and Meredith Finch have big shoes to fill indeed.
