5. Batman’s rogues
While it’s been an eventful year for the Dark Knight, his rogues, however, have had one of their most best years yet, though ironically not so much in Batman’s comics. Major Batman villains like Ra’s Al Ghul, Deadshot, Firefly, have all appeared on Arrow, while Gotham has been raising the profile of villains like Penguin, Catwoman and Victor Zsasz so far.
In the comics, the Zero Year story arc was a great look at the Bat’s early years, and helped make Riddler more menacing than he has ever been. But with much of Batman’s 2014 occupied with Zero Year, the Joker’s return in September turned out to be quite a shocker. Out for a year and a half after the gut-wrenching Death Of the Family story arc and sitting out the pivotal Forever Evil crossover event, the Clown Prince of Crime came back in spectacular fashion, by taking over the minds of Justice League. Just that final page of Batman #35 was enough to send chills up your spine, and if Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s last Joker story is anything to go by, you can expect End Game to be equally devastating to the Dark Knight nad his Bat-family.
