Recently. a mysterious website appeared and began its countdown to something. The address is this one and it seems like a teaser with zero info or images save for a beautiful illustration of a cloudy, starfilled sky that might remind some people of Makoto Shinkai’s signature obsession with cloudy skies. On these clouds, we can see a countdown timer that ticking in real time and a simple phrase in Japanese – “The restoration of the world….will begin”.
Even the Japanese are puzzled by lack of clues and the word itself, garakowa is actually gibberish .Few people tried to check the source code of the site and they found the text “new anime project” and another text says “keywords=C, anime, destroy, world.” So far, many people speculating that this is a site of a new, unknown anime series, a new movie or an OVA. No words on who will be cast, who are the staffers and which animation studio will be handling this. Guess we have to wait another 24 hours more before we get to the truth behind the site since the it will open fully on 6 February 2015. The source code even included this – “description content=when countdown reaches 0, the world will know the truth.”
The last time someone used such a bombastic claim is Yamakan (Yutaka Yamamoto who is famous for Haruhi Season One) when he is promoting the ill-fated and failed Fractale (2011). The series later was criticized as being too pretentious and hollow, causing the famous director to go in “exile” for a while before he came back to helm new series two years later.
