A sequel apparently has been green lit for the live-action film adaptation of Corpse Party; an ultra-gorey horror game from Team GrisGris and 5pb.

The sequel will feature returning cast members Ryosuke Ikeoka, Rina Ikoma, Nozomi Maeda and JUN from idol group Bee Shuffle. The director will once again be Masafumi Yamada (Hitori Kakurenbo Gekijōban, Hontō ni Atta Kowai Hanashi).

The first movie opened in Japan on 1 August 2015, with an “Unlimited Edition” version of the film streaming simultaneously on Niconico Live, featuring explicit cut content from the theatrical release (probably too much gore for the ratings).

Here is the synopsis for the upcoming movie:

“Facing goodbyes and graduation, Naomi (Rina Ikoma), her childhood friend Satoshi (Ryosuke Ikeoka), and their classmates, are clearing up after their last ever cultural festival, when horror buff class president Ayumi (Nozomi Maeda) decides to summon Sachiko Ever After so they will stay friends for all eternity. What came instead was an invitation to a haunted graduation ceremony for Heavenly Host Elementary School, forced to close after a series of gruesome murders. What fate awaits Naomi and her friends at the cured school…?”

Corpse Party: Blood Drive released for western markets in October last year, being the final installment of the series. The game shipped for the PS Vita and the Nintendo 3DS earlier that year for Japanese markets.
