The greatest american hero

Remember that ABC reboot for The Greatest American Hero? seems like they’re giving the show a pretty big twist in casting for their main character.

It hasn’t been too uncommon lately where characters have been given a totally different take, notably an African American Spider Man and the new Ironman being female. In this case, the white male lead for The Greatest American Hero is being replaced by a female Indian-American lead ; with the show now being about a 30-year old from Cleveland named Meera who is essentially the protector of the world.

The new hero character’s talents include “tequila drinking, karaoke and not much else” and her powers will come courtesy of a super suit given to her by aliens.

The pilot for the reboot is already in production with writer Rachna Fruchbom (Fresh Off the Boat) and Tawnia McKiernan, Nahnatchka Khan’s Fierce Baby and Mandy Summers as exec producers. The cast for the show has yet to be released, but this will be interesting at the very least.
