The next generation of consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Two have been rumoured to be releasing a lot earlier than previously expected. Not to say we didn’t see them coming, but here’s what we currently know about the two upcoming consoles.
There have been rumours that the consoles would be on the way despite the PS4 and Xbox One not being anywhere near the end of their life cycles. But the last couple of years have seen quite a bit of advancements in tech, especially that in the 4K department (plus, its cheaper now) so its quite possible that they want to bring in the “next gen” a lot sooner.
Also, as it turns out, the two consoles will be powered by AMD, and will have 4K support. As of the moment, both consoles don’t even run on 1080p resolution, and are starting to get left behind by the mobile and PC segment in terms of graphics. Currently 4K gaming hasn’t really gained all that much traction yet, but as the hardware gets beefier we can expect more games to sport that sweet 4K resolution.
Finally, the new consoles are probably going to be equipped to handle VR. That is on top of the Xbox Two and PS5 being backwards compatible due to AMD’s tech and x86 architecture so its a win-win for gamers who have games from the previous gens.
There’s no real word besides this on the when and what for the two consoles but we’re sure that Microsoft and Sony will release more info when the time comes.
