Ahead of the upcoming release of X-Men: Apocalypse coming 27 May, we are treated a promo video which sets up Apocalypse’s origin with a “retro” documentary series, In the Footsteps Of… En Sabah Nur.

The video is an homage to the classic documentary series, In the Search Of… hosted by the late Leonard Nimoy. For this tribute, the mockumentary is narrated by Nimoy’s Star Trek co-star, George Takei.

In the Footsteps of… Sabah En Nur, tackles the introduction of Apocalypse (Oscar Issac), who will be the antagonist in X-Men: Apocalypse with a novel approach. It takes inspiration from 80’s informercial style to unravel the mystery that is En Sabah Nur, the first and most powerful mutant.

The result is a brilliant combination of retro flair and conspiracy theorist intrigue that serves as platform to navigate Apocalypse rich history. To give a better grasp’s of his past, Fox has also released a timeline of catastrophe credited to Apocalypse’s involvement. Check it out, here.

X-Men: Apocalypse will see Raven played by Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy’s Professor X lead a team of young X-Men to face a recently awakened Apocalypse.

The sequel to the X-Men: Days of Future Past will also see  the return of the old cast alongside with newcomers Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Olivia Munn (Psylocke) and Lana Condor (Jubilee).

X-Men: Apocalypse will be out in theatres on 27 May, in the meantime check out In the Footsteps of… En Sabah Nur.
