Assassination Classroom/Ansatsu Kyoshitsu will be getting a live action movie and anime series come 9 January 2015.

The anime will be getting a 25 episode run and will be directed by Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Danganropa). The confirmed cast are Jun Fukuyama (D-Frag!, Noragami), Tomokazu Sugita (Buddy Complex, Terra Formars), Shizuka Ito (Blade & Soul, D-Frag!) and Mai Fuchigami (Cross Ange, Jinsei). Script writing duties will be handled by Makoto Uezu and it’ll be animated by Studio Lerche (Unbreakable Machine Doll, Danganropa the Animation).

It’s not surprising that the manga by Yusei Matsui is getting its anime break. The manga has had quite a bit of success since its inception, and its manga volumes have been frequently on the top of the best selling manga lists in Japan. And although there was an event anime adaptation was made for Jump Festa back in 2013, it’s only now we’re seeing it getting full episode runs. Heck even Nanatsu no taizai/ The Seven Deadly Sins got its anime run earlier and the manga started its run slightly later.

So just in case you’re not sure just what Assassination Classroom/Ansatsu Kyoshitsu is about here’s the gist. Earth is in danger of being destroyed by a super powerful creature that has already laid waste to 70% of the moon. He’s giving it a chance to save itself though only IF he can be assassinated. There’s a catch though, only one specific school in Japan, Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School are allowed to kill him, and he’s going to teach them how to do it. Sounds pretty whacked right? The premise works though and it’s still maintained its popularity despite it’s pretty weird plot.
