In conjunction with ASUS‘ launch of their liquid-cooled gaming notebook, the ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) GX700, the company also announced their own League of Legends (LoL) tournament, to be held in Malaysia, the ROG Champions Cup.
The tournament is scheduled to run throughout the month of May (starting from May 14) all the way to the finals on June 25. The qualifiers will be held from 14 May onwards throughout the country at various offline venues. This will then be followed by the group stages, quarter finals and semi-finals, all of which will be done online on May 25, June 4, and June 11 respectively. This will culminate in the finals which will be held in Sunway Pyramid Ice Rink on June 25.
The tournament is held in partnership with Garena, the exclusive distributor of LoL in the region, and with a prize pool of more than RM60,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, we’re kind of sure the showdown at the Sunway Pyramid Ice Rink is going to be intense.
As for details on the offline qualifiers venues, neither ASUS nor Garena have yet to reveal any details. Neither have they announced the breakdown and details of the RM60,000 prize pool.
For more information about the tournament, you can head over to the ROG Champions Cup page where you can also sign you and your team up for it. If you do, good luck as we’re pretty sure the competition will be pretty intense.
