Oh no! the iconic Gundam statue outside the DiverCity Tokyo mall is being taken down next year!

The statue has been standing there since 2012, being part of the Tokyo Gundam Project whose aim is to revitalise Tokyo’s waterfront areas. The project will also be temporarily put to a halt, along with the Gundam Front Tokyo attraction to be closed on 5 April 2016.

The statue, in the likeness of the iconic RX-78-2 mobile suit piloted by Amuro Ray in the first Mobile Suit Gundam series, has been standing since 2010, though it’s been relocated to multiple locations since then.

Will the statue ever come back? we don’t know for certain, but you’ve got until 5 March next year to check it out before it’s gone for good.
