The Oscars were just in full swing, and believe it or not, Suicide Squad has gotten itself an Oscar?
This is while we’re still reeling over that big gaff where La La Land was mistakenly announced as winner for Best Picture 2017, but we have some questions as to why Suicide Squad even managed to nail an Oscar.
Suicide Squad would be the first DCEU movie to win an Oscar, but this is still strange considering its considered as one of the worst superhero movies of the year. Rotten Tomatoes rates Suicide Squad as just 26% and it still is getting a sequel made despite that.
The Oscar in question is for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, beating out A Man Called Ove and Star Trek Beyond.
Personally, given the sort of effort that went into the different aliens in Star Trek Beyond, and the complexity of some of them (see above, if that’s not awesome makeup FX I don’t know what is) they should have nailed the Oscar for it at least. Granted Suicide Squad did have some pretty cool do’s, we’re not entirely sure they’re deserving.
