Sherlock Holmes, Khan, Smaug and now Doctor Strange. Just how many iconic characters can Benedict Cumberbatch have under his belt? Yep you read that right, Marvel’s man of mysticism, Dr. Strange has found it’s lead and it’s Mr Holmes himself.

According to website Deadline, the British actor is in “final talks” with Marvel to seal the deal for Marvel’s Dr Strange adaptation. Yes it isn’t a full 100% but according to the site, the deal is very likely to be sealed. Previously, the front runner for the role was Joaquin Phoenix, but it seems that didn’t fall through as the actor did not want to commit himself to a multi-film deal. Other names have also been attached as hopeful potentials for the role including Jared Leto and Tom Hardy, but looks like Benedict Cumberbatch has come on top, and boy do we think he might just be perfect for it.

Is Mr Holmes the right fit for Dr Strange?

Dr Strange is scheduled for a 2016 release and it is supposed to be a free standing film. Considering the mystical nature of the film, it looks like it’s in good hands as well with Scott Derrickson as director. He has previously directed Sinister, Deliver us from Evil, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and various other horror related projects. This kind of gives us a good idea where the subject of the film is headed. The scrip itself is being penned by Jon Spaith, who co-wrote the script to Prometheus.

So now that Marvel’s Master of Mysticism has been more or less confirmed, what do you think of their choice? Also, just who do you think would be perfect for the role of Dr Strange’s manservant Wong?
