The game was initially announced sometime in 2013, Breath of Fire 6 (ブレス オブ ファイア6 白竜の守護者たち, Buresu obu Faia 6 Hakuryuu no Shugosha-tachi, or Breath of Fire 6: Guardians of the White Dragons, has had its characters and classes revealed with a brand-new Breath of Fire series site from Capcom. In addition to the new information for the upcoming game, you can also find information for the last five, along with artwork and snippets of info about them.
Considering Capcom hasn’t really touched the franchise much since they remade some of the games and produced Dragon Quarter for the PlayStation 2. This is pretty momentous for fans of the series; if not because they get to see material they likely haven’t seen in years, it means that Capcom might be giving more love to the series as a whole. However this has been met with a bit of skepticism as they feel that Capcom has since”killed” the franchise. Also, you won’t be playing the series’ titular main character Ryu, but instead a similar but customiseable “Hero” character from the same hometown.
They’ve generally stuck to the same design elements from the previous games, inclusive of your main character being able to change into a dragon-like being and there being a whole heap of character races that would make up your party members and NPCs. Capcom is also throwing in a bit of town-building elements, as you need to rebuild your hometown after it was razed by the enemy empire.
Granted they’re not much like what we’re used to seeing, but its also good that Capcom is trying something different. The gameplay does seem to have some elements from Ragnarok Online, but that could just be us.
BoF6 will also have cross platform compatibility, so you could play with people across all three platforms.
The game is slated to come out sometime in Q2 2015 so it should be arriving soon enough, but we don’t know yet if there will be an international version just yet. However, we are really BoF6 does justice to the series.
