Seemingly leaping back out of obscurity; Bubsy is attempting to make its 2D-platforming return via Steam Greenlight.
At the surface, Bubsy (the Bobcat) is one of those games from an era where almost everything was a platformer and had a lot in common with the more popular Sonic series of games. Those who do remember the series by Accolade, would know cheerful music, whimsical stages and characters; as well as a bobcat’s eternal quest for more balls of yarn.
The Bubsy Two-Fur, as the game is being released as, will feature the bobcat’s first two games Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and Bubsy 2. The games will be both available for $4.99 (about RM 21.85) if they get greenlit. The bobcat also got a game in more recent years, with Bubsy 3D: Bubsy Visits the James Turrell Retrospective being available to play for free for now.
Retroism is also launching the #SaveBubsy campaign in an effort to rally those who identify as fans of the character. The Bubsy Two-Fur has a “late 2015” release pending, if the game does get voted into Steam.
