CBS planning a new espionage drama based on the exploits of Discovery’s Mythbusters duo – Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman? Yes it is true.
According to THR, the plot of the show is:
“The untitled drama, which has received a script commitment from the network, revolves around two Hollywood special effects artists who are recruited by the CIA to complete seemingly impossible covert ops missions by creatively using the most basic tools from their craft.”
The Mythbusters crew signed up as the executive producers with sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman (Suits, Human Target, Fringe) as writers for the pilot project. The later duo will serve as showrunners if CBS decides to go ahead with it as a regular series.
As right now, not much info is known but the premise is very promising. Imagine a modern day MacGyver styled spy series using modern science and techniques to solve the crisis at hand. Or Chuck but with no Intersect, but instead, the hero has to rely on the proven scientific knowledge and ingenuity to fight the baddies and wins the day.
That itself, is worth at least a curious watch.
