Seagate’s next line of hard drives, called the Seagate Seven portable is looking decidedly sleek and aesthetically pleasing. The chassis houses a super slim 5mm 500GB Angsana HDD which has a total thickness of 7mm. It is so thin that it has a noticeable bulge at the end just to incorporate the unit’s USB 3.0 port.

Seagate has been providing the world with storage since the modern origins of computing history,” explains Mark Whitby, senior vice president of Seagate Branded Group. “Seagate Seven is designed to speak to this history, while looking forward to the future of where storage technology is headed. We believe that Seagate Seven will resonate with those who want the latest trend in mechanical design while inspiring the user to create great experiences and memories.

The model is developed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Seagate successfully producing the world’s first 5.25-inch HDD. Seagate also claims that this is the world’s thinnest hard drive in existence so far, manufactured by a “deep draw process” which supposedly allows the model to maintain structural integrity in its skinny steel body.

The Seagate Seven will be set to hit the global market around mid to late January 2015 with a retail price around US$99.99 (RM350).
