Japan Railways (JR) will be operating a train that is decked with themes from the famous anime franchise, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Fans will immediately recognize the colour schemes is based on Eva Unit-01, piloted by poster boy of emo, Shinji Ikari.
This particular bullet train is serving on the Sanyo Shinkansen Line, which situated between cities of Osaka and Fukuoka, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the railway line and the 20th anniversary of the anime franchise.
The famous, erudite creator of Evangelion, Hideaki Anno and mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita (Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, Neon Genesis Evangelion) collaborated together to conjure up the 500 Type Eva, a 500 series Shinkansen sporting the colour schemes of Eva-01.
This particular model will debut this October in Japan for two runs. Then, it is scheduled for a normal operations by March 2017.
Not only that, JR media press promises that fans will be treated with full time interior design that is patterned on the anime series. What do they exactly mean by that is matter of speculation, it could be ranging from mugs with Shinji’s face on it to a bevy of female attendants dressed up as NERV personnel serving passengers.
Now, if they confirmed the release of final Rebuild of Evangelion movie…
