The first visual key for the first Gundam Thunderbolt episode is up and it features Ensign Io Fleming and Sargent Daryl Lorentz with their mobile suits.
The image with the pilots with their gundams, Full Armor Gundam and Psyco Zaku came out earlier this week on the official site for the anime. The tagline even reads “The two are fated to kill each other” which bodes pretty omnious for both characters.
Gundam Thunderbolt is set in the same One Year Wra in UC 0079 as the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime . It follows the battles of two ace pilots at the “Thunderbolt Sector” a shoal zone full of space wreckage.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Federation troops and Zeon forces carry out a fierce battle in the Thunderbolt Sector in what was once Side 4 “Mua”. The Thunderbolt Sector is a shoal zone composed of the debris of destroyed space colonies, named for the electrical discharges from the metal debris. MS pilot Io Flemming is among the Federation soldiers who are dispatched to the area, where Zeon sniper Daryl Lorenz awaits them on the battlefield.” (Source: Gundam Wiki)
As usual, the veteran Studio Sunrise will be taking up the mantle of production. The manga series which is written and drawn by Yasuo Ohtagaki (Moonlight Mile) has been serialized in Big Comic Superior since March 2012.
