The April issue of Shonen Gangan has announced the anime adaptation of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry/落第騎士の英雄譚 or “Chivalry of Failed Knight” light novel series by novelist Riku Misora is confirmed. The light novel series is progressing into its sixth volume so far under GA Bunko publishing house, while the manga adaptation by Megumu Soramichi was featured in Monthly Shonen Gangan. The first volume of the novel came out in 15 July 2013.
The synopsis is pretty standard: The world revolves around the Magic Knights, modern mages who fight with weapons shaped by their souls. One day, a boy goes by the name of Ikki Kurogane shows up at this school for Magic Knights but he is a “Failed Knight” or “Worst One” meaning he has zero magical skills. Then one day, a foreign princess and top school student Stella laid down a duel challenge on the hapless boy with one rule – “the loser must be obedient for life.”
No announcement on the staff, casting or which studio will animate the series nor the date of airing. Safe to say that this is another typical seinen show that pretty rife with cliches like Mahouka, Dragonar, Absolute Duo or Strike the Blood. Nothing special about it and be prepared that the hero will be one of those clueless lucky guys who somehow attracts beautiful girls without need to do anything much but being himself. And somehow, has hidden powers too.
