Goro Taniguchi of Code Geass fame has officially launched his first ever manga project called ĀTRAIL -Nisekawi-teki Nichijō to Senmetsu Element today.!
The manga focuses on Iori Shijima, an ordinary high school student with a seemingly ordinary life. He has lots of friends, and a cute childhood friend, a beautiful mother plus great grades and a plan for the future. Pretty idyllic as far as manga and anime characters go, no?
Then all of this changes when “transcendent beings” called the ĀTRAIL show up on Earth. Our poor protagonist gets to watch his life change forever as he learns of another world and the meaning of his own existence. We aren’t quite sure what this could mean yet, but its possible that our hero may have a lot more to him than it seems on the surface.
Either that or he’s just the latest unlucky hero to become the main character of a manga.
Akihiku Higuchi (Loups-Garous) is handling the art while Taniguchi is writing the script. At the current moment, Taniguchi is also chief director for the upcoming original anime Active Raid: Kidō Kyōshūshitsu Dai-Hakkei (Active Raid: Special Public Security Fifth Division Third Mobile Assault Eighth Unit) that will premiere in January 2015.
