Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata (Bakuman, Death Note) is publishing a new manga series Platinum End in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump – in the form of a two-part prequel introduction in the 44th issue of the manga magazine this Monday. Platinum End will begin its serialization in Jump SQ this December.

Platinum-EndBoth of them are no strangers to the manga industry and have gained many accolades, Bakuman so far has published 20 million copies (20 tankubon volumes) under Shueisha and serves as the basis for well received three seasons of anime TV series. Meanwhile, their magnum opus, Death Note needs little introduction here – three live action movies (plus one upcoming), a 37 episode anime series, a live action TV series in Japan and over 30 million copies printed worldwide. What’s more, Death Note is inspiring a musical play too. Warner Bros is said to be developing a live action version of the story.

Sadly however, there is very little to go on about Platinum End except this one very short synopsis from Shueisha:

This is a story of a human and an angel.”

We can expect a shonen flavour with supernatural elements in Platinum End for sure. Other than that, nothing else is virtually known about it.
