The new Ghostbusters movie was a giant letdown. Sure, I didn’t hate it. It isn’t terrible, per se. It just isn’t that good either. Plus it didn’t help that the overarching message of the film is, “Men suck. Women are great!” As expected, the movie didn’t perform at the box office, making 229 Mil USD worldwide with a 144 Mil USD budget. Honestly, though, it’s been a year. We’ve all moved on. By we, I mean everyone except Dan Aykroyd.

For no bloody reason other than the fact that he’s an old man without a job, Aykroyd decided to bring up that Ghostbusters film again in an interview with Britain’s Sunday Brunch.

The girls are great in it. Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig – what a wonderful, wonderful players they are – and Leslie Jones. I was really happy with the movie, but it cost too much. And Sony does not like to lose money. It made a lot of money around the world but it just cost too much, making it economically not feasible to do another one. So that’s too bad – the director, he spent too much on it. He didn’t shoot scenes we suggested to him, several scenes that were going to be needed, and he said, ‘No, we don’t need them,’ and then we tested the movie and they needed them and he had to go back — about $30 to $40 million in reshoots. So, yeah, he will not be back on the Sony lot anytime soon.

Really Dan Aykroyd? When was the last time you were back on the Sony lot? Shut up, loser. You spend months campaigning the movie, calling it the best sh*t ever only to throw the director under the bus when it didn’t make the big bucks?

This is literally what he said last year:

As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!

That’s right Mr Buzz Lightyear. You said it!

After receiving the middle finger from every media outlet under the sun, Dan Aykroyd posted a non-apology.

Paul Feig made a good movie and had a superb cast and plenty of money to do it. We just wish he had been more inclusive to the originators. It cost everyone as it is unlikely Kristen, Leslie, Melissa and Kate will ever reprise their roles as Ghostbusters which is sad.

Dan Aykroyd, you were once one of the best comedians in the world. Your work in the original Ghosbusters is nothing if not legendary. But man, it’s been years. Just let it go.
