As much as you’d like to say that Disney Infinity is just a rehash of Skylanders, you have to admit, it’s still pretty sweet, especially since it brings a wide variety of already known characters from the Disney universe into the video gaming realm. Now, it gets even better as Disney has thrown in the Marvel universe as well in its latest iteration, Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes.

The latest version of the hybrid toy/video game introduces interactive Super Hero figures from across the well loved Marvel universe with orginal Play Set storylines that have been written by Brian Michael Bendis himself. So far we’ve seen two Play Sets, one for Guardians of the Galaxy and another for Spider-Man. As for heroes you’ll be getting characters from the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man. Not too sure when they’ll be adding the Fantastic Four and X-men sets but we gather it’ll come later on. And like the comics and various other Marvel games, each character brings with them their own variety of super-powers as well as unique gameplay mechanics. For example, you get web slinging and wall crawling with Spider-man, flying with Thor and Iron Man, smashing by the Hulk and the list goes one.

Also added are new set of circular and hexagonal Power Discs where circular discs add costumes, Area of Effect attacks and team-ups while hexagonal discs add new weapons, vehicles and sky and terrain customisations.

What’s also new is an improve Toy Box 2.0 mode which makes it easier for to create and share their own made levels and there’s even new gameplay structures that can be integrated into the levels allowing for classic gameplays like Dungeon Crawling and Tower Defense. There also new Toy Boxes that will be designed by the super-fans turned designers, Avalanche Software Community Team.  These immersive, themed Toy Boxes will haveepisodic content for players to download for free from launch onwards to beyond.

And if you’re worried if you Disney Inifinity 1.0 isn’t going to work, fear not. The latest iteration is backward compatible so you’ll be able to see your old Disney characters like Jack Sparrow interact with the lights of Iron Man and Nicky Fury.

The Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is now available in Malaysia and the starter pack is available at RM259. This would give you the Thor, Iron Man and Black Widow figurines.
