We’ve already covered a little bit on what the new Disney Infinity set has to offer earlier this week as news was rolling off D23 Anaheim, like the special Kingdom Hearts content that will be present in the game as well as a PS4 bundle.
The new version of the game, dubbed Disney Infinity 3.0 will be seeing brand new content and figures from both the Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars universes. These include three Star Wars play sets, a Disney PixarPlay Set based on the film Inside Out and a Marvel Play Set featuring Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron and a handful of other Marvel characters. New standalone additions to the set are Mulan, Classic Mickey and Minnie, Olaf as well as Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron Legacy.
The three Star Wars sets cover the timelines of Episodes I – III, with the 2nd set covering the original Trilogy and the final one is based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The first set will have AhsokaTano, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Darth Maul. The second set will feature Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Chewbacca and Darth Vader. The final set will have Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus and Zeb Orrelios. All characters in the Star Wars set can be played across both “worlds” and he figures will generally have forward compatibility.
On top of this, they’ve given some tweaks to the Toy Box. Here you will access everything through the Toy Box Hub. This in turn gives access to six gameplay zones with the new multiplayer Toy Box Expansion games, Toy Box Speedway which is a kart racing game and Toy Box Takeover which is action adventure. These basically let you do more with friends than just building worlds, letting you play alongside with your favourite characters or compete for fun. You will also get to recruit Townspeople Sidekicks to help you in combat, explore or cultivate crops as well as farm to nurture them. The more you feed them the stronger they get!
There are also two new areas you can visit, Flynn’s Arcade and El Capitan, where players can take part in multiplayer games on the fly and watch episodes of Toy Box TV, download Toy Boxes or just hang out.
Also due to popular demand for power discs, Disney will be selling clear packed power discs for those looking to complete their collection. The blindpacked discs will still be available though.
New figures are on their way too, with characters from Zootopia, The Good Dinosaur and Peter Pan are set to make an appearance soon.
The Star Wars starter kit contains Disney Infinity 3.0, the base, AhsokaTano and Anakin Skywalker figures, the Star Wars: Twilight of the Empire Play set piece and will retail at RM 249 and will be available from 1 September 2015 onwards.
