Voice actor Kaneta Kimotsuki, best known for voicing Suneo from the 1973 Doraemon anime has passed away at age 80.
Kimotsuki originally voiced Takeshi Gouda in the original series before taking over the role of Suneo in 1979. He’s also voiced roles in anime like Soreike! Anpanman (Horrorman), Galaxy Express 999 (Conductor), Magical Angel Creamy Mami (Nega), Kaibutsu-kun (Dracula), Osomatsu-kun (Iyami), Yuki Yuna is a Hero (Yoshiteru) and the 1979 Cyborg 009 anime (Great Briten/007).
He’s similarly performed in Japanese dubs for American animated features like The Little Mermaid and the Aristocats. He also voiced Tom in the Japanese Tom & Jerry dub as well as Jiminy Cricket for Japan’s Pinnochio dub; which he revisited for Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series.
He will be missed.
