Nintendo just announced that it will be bringing Square Enix’s Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King to the Nintendo 3DS. Read on for more.
The title was originally set for a western release in 2016, but had to be delayed. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King was launched in Japan in 2015, being ported from the original Dragon Quest VIII: Sora to Umi to Daichi to Norowareshi Himegimi (Dragon Quest VIII: The Sky, the Ocean, the Earth, and the Cursed Princess), which came out for the PS2 in 2004. Then the iOS/Android port of the game was released worldwide in 2014.
The 3DS port of the game would have two new party members; a female thief named Gelda and Morrie from arcade game Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road; on top of a new story scenario. The game will also have StreetPass support as well as orchestral score performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
Nintendo is also releasing Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past on 3DS as well; and those who pre-purchase it will get a Dragon Quest VII 3DS home menu theme. It will ship 16 September 2016 for the US.
