Looks like Hogwarts’ famous headmaster will be making an appearance in the next Fantastic Beasts movie. Does that mean more beasties get on the loose, or does he just have a meeting with one of England’s best?
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits us next week, and there’s already plans for the show’s next installment. It’s essentially a spinoff from the Harry Potter universe, featuring the adventures of a certain Newt Scamander as he tries to contain the beastly contents of his suitcase when they get loose in New York.
Since the events of Fantastic Beasts seem to take place a few decades before the events of Harry Potter, there’s still the possibility of characters like Dumbledore making their appearance.
“In the second movie Dumbledore comes back,” director David Yates said. “He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt … We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good.”
Of course this Dumbledore won’t be played by Michael Gambon, and since it happens earlier in the timeline of things it could be a much younger version of the wizard meeting Newt.
While the second movie would be Dumbledore’s debut in the series, it won’t be the first time he was brought up. He is apparently going to be a topic of conversation in the first film, as would be Grindelwald, an evil wizard who came before He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. How much, we’ll be finding out in a couple of weeks.
