For those of you who have been waiting, Bethesda has finally unveiled the sequel to Prey at this year’s E3. That’s right, after 10 years since the game was first released in 2006, we’ll be seeing a new game from the series.

Actually, to call it a sequel would be a bit inaccurate, at least according to Bethesda. According to Prey director Raphael Colantonio, the new Prey title will neither be a sequel or a remake, but a “reimagining” of the IP.

As for the new game itself, it’ll be a psychological thriller set in a dangerous universe in the year 2031 with a main character called Morgan. A trailer for the game was also released which showed the protagonist in an Earth-like residential setting as well as an off-world area. It is also implied in the trailer that the main character Morgan, is a test subject in a psychological experiment.

Some gameplay details of Prey were also revealed in a post-launch press conference. This includes the confirmation that Prey will not be mission-based like Dishonored. It will instead be one large area in which players can revisit areas and explore. Also, although the trailer showed the main character Morgan as a male, it was revealed that players will be able to play the character as either a male or female.

The game is being developed by Arkane Studios Austin, together with Bethesda and no exact date for the release of Prey has been revealed yet. We only know that it’ll be launched next year, 2017 for the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. Till then though, enjoy the new trailer and stay tuned for more E3 2016 updates here.
