Daredevil Season 2 will see the debut of Elektra and Elodie Yung (G.I Joe: Retaliation) is the one to portray the femme fatale. She is the Greek ninja assassin and Matt Murdock’s intense love interest. To nail down the certainty, Netflix tweeted this:

Elektra’s Greek heritage is an important core concept and while the actress herself is of French and Canadian descent. Netflix’s decision not to whitewash it received a lot of praise, as fans still remember the white-washing of Elektra as played by Jennifer Gardner in the Daredevil movie and atrocious solo movie in 2005.
With her appearance and Punisher, things will get really funky for the hero in Hell’s Kitchen. In the lore, both love each other but are torn apart by their ideology, Daredevil is a traditional hero whereas Elektra is a no-nonsense and violent killer for hire.
Meanwhile the filming of Season 2 is already kicking into high gear and Internet soon have behind-the-scenes set photos taken by fans popping around.

On the other hand, Joe Bernthal is studying a few Punisher comics to really get into the character. Among them is six-issue collection of Marvel Knights series “Punisher: War Zone” (Steve Dillon , Garth Ennis) and “Resurrection of Ma Gnucci” which is the sequel to the “Welcome Back, Frank” storyline by the same creators.
The actor is also shown to be reading the “Punisher MAX” series – one particular story focusing on Frank Castle’s solitary confinement during a prison riot. How he becomes the much feared gun toting vigilante is revealed as a gradual process here. The “Circle of Blood” issue is Punisher’s first solo adventure where he escaped the prison and sparked a gang war and lastly “The Punisher Volume 1: Black and White” where the vigilante is in Los Angeles and met A.I.M there (hinted in Iron-Man 3 movie).

Perhaps the showrunners want to explore Frank Castle’s inner demons and how it made him into such a ruthless killer of criminals, which might be one of the main story in the upcoming season. This will definitely causing him and Daredevil to differ on the ideological ground despite hunting down the criminals.
