BranStarkGoT

Some new rumours the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones has surfaced.

First, the actor of Bran Stark, Isaac Hempstead Wright hints that his character will be back in Season 6 during an interview with the Irish Examiner:

I can’t say a lot but I am back this season, and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran. He has some interesting visions.”

He also stressed that Bran’s re-emergence in the narrative will have a strong role to play in Westeros. After all, he is absent for the entire Season 5 since the novels already ran out of story about him at the end of Season 4. Meanwhile, he also hopes that Kit Harrington will be back as Jon Snow in Season 6:

I don’t know (if he will come back). He’s said he’s not. I wish he would because I love Kit and because the character’s so cool. Who knows? We start filming series six at the end of this month (July) so we’ll see.”

Secondly, the upcoming season might include a flashback sequence that deals with the biggest fan theory, the R+L = J.

Warning, this is a very BIG SPOILER so readers might choose not to scroll down to read.

One of the announced shooting location for the upcoming season is this lonely looking tower at Spain called the Castillo de Zafra in Guadalajara. The significance of this place is it might be the setup for Tower of Joy scene.

After a brutal fight with several gold cloaks, Ned Stark is called to his dying sister Lyanna at the Tower of Joy where he finds her suffering from a massive loss of blood. She makes sure that Ned Stark to swears a promise to her. What is the promise about is never revealed to the readers so many have developed  the “R+L = J” theory. This theory speculates that Jon Snow could be result of the union between Lyanna Stark and Prince Rhaegar Targayen. The crown prince “kidnapped” the Stark maiden who was already promised to her intended husband, Robert Baratheon. This is the main cause for the war that finally sees Robert becoming the King and the Targayen Prince dead along with his House.

In the recent casting call, HBO is looking for an actor who can do a “legendary fighter” who is the “paragon of knighthood”. Many fans are betting this points to Ser Arthur Dayne, whom Ned Stark consideres as one of the best who ever lived. He is the knight guarding the Tower of Joy where Lyanna is kept as “hostage”.

The rumour states that the reason why showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss got the gig is because they guessed who is Jon Snow’s mother correctly. The progress of the narrative seems to suggest that the fan theory might have some truth in it.

We can only hope this means Jon Snow will return since it did not make sense for the showrunners to include the flashback sequence in such elaborate manner if he is truly dead.
