Vanity Fair just released a few exclusive images of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in celebration of Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you!). Now let’s get down to the business.
Rey who is seen riding a hover bike seems to have similar origins with Luke Sykwalker – though it’s the desert home planet of Jakku, not Tatooine and a droid companion BB-8. Finn, the sweating and nervous stormtrooper seems to be Rey’s close ally. Without any doubt these two will come across many beloved old characters from trilogy like Han Solo and Chewbacca.
As suspected by many fans, Adam Driver (Girls) is Kylo Ren, the dark robed man who is wielding the lightsaber with light guard in the trailers. He is rumoured to be plotting something with the stormtrooper army on a mysterious ice world reminiscent of Hoth. Oscar Isaac is the X-Wing hotshot pilot Poe Dameron who is flying for The Resistance. The newly named faction is combating the remnants of Imperial Empire known as First Order. He is saying that Poe Cameron is on a mission for certain princess when he came across Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley).
Then we have the glimpses of Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) in motion capture for Maz Kanata the pirate. Not only that, we got to see the crew that described as “galactic travelers, smugglers, and other assorted riffraff” that will be seen at Maz Kanata’s lair in the movie. It is speculated in heated way of which side this pirate will be on but it could be Maz Kanata only works for herself. Another persistent rumour that Maz Kanata will be the one who provided vital information to Rey in her quest.
We shall find out soon enough on 18 December 2015.
