Chaos Dragon: Sekiryu Seneki/Red Dragon War/ケイオスドラゴン 赤竜戦役 is receiving some major updates as a new 90 second promo teaser is out with the slew of announcements of its staff list and casting too. Bear in mind, the anime series is just one part of the major media mix project under the umbrella of Chaos Dragon which also includes the board game Chaos Dragon: Haou Shunjyu (Supreme Ruler Years) and smartphone game Chaos Dragon: Konton Sensou (Chaos War). For the anime series, studio Toho Animation will be the chief animator with the partnership of SILVERLINK./CONNECT (Bonjour Sweet Love Patisserie).
As revealed before, the project is the genesis of role playing fiction (RPF) developed during table-talk role playing game or TRPG between who’s who list in Japanese creative force in anime industry – Gen Urobochi (Puella Magi Madoka, Gargantia, Fate/Zero), TYPEMOON’s Kinoko Nasu (Fate/Stay Night, Shingeshutan Tsukihime, Kara no Kyokai), Izuki Kougyoku (Garden Lost), Doriru Shima and Durarara!!‘s writer, Ryogo Narita. The sessions were sponsored by Toho Animation, Seikaisha and SEGA networks. Out of this, seven volumes of novel is out under Seikaisha with illustration by Doriru Shima.
The anime series is set to be aired in Japan in this July. The director will be Mastato Matsune (Assassination Classroom OP movie) with series composition by Shou Aikawa (Ultraman Great, Fullmetal Alchemist) and music scoring by composer Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Valkyria Chronicles). Confirmed cast list is Marina Inoue (Nao Midorikawa/Cure March in Smile PreCure!), veteran Miyuki Sawashiro (Fujiko Mine in Lupin The Third), Souma Saito (Tatsumi in Akame ga KILL!), Maaya Uchida (Sharo in Is the Order a Rabbit?) and Unshou Ishizuka (Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop).
This looks like a major effort which might translates into either an epic awesome series or a complete disappointment. Time will tell.
