Nope, we didn’t link that wrong. It’s a book.
Trevorrow is already prepping up for the major work involved in directing the last movie of latest Star Wars trilogy. Lucasfilm has been very careful in plotting out the whole franchise – first J.J Abrams The Force Awakens hits this year in December, followed by Gareth Edwards Rogue One (16 December 2016). After that, Rian Johnson’s Episode 8 will swoop in around 26 May 2017, followed by the movie about young Han Solo on 25 May 2018. Only then will Episode 9 come in and give the whole thing a closure. Impressive lineup of films no doubt, but here’s hoping they don’t muck up the universe too much as they’ve already done a reboot of the extended universe.
There is also no news on the planned anthology movie of famous bounty hunter Boba Fett. The intended director, Josh Trank (Fant4stic Four) resigned (though some say fired by Disney) a few months ago and the studio still searching for a suitable replacement.
Episode 9 is scheduled for release in 2019.
