Kadokawa has just revealed the first trailer of its upcoming anime adaptation of the popular Japanese webgame, Kantai Collection. The anime series will feature cast like Sumire Uesaka (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!), Saki Fujita (Yozakura Quartet) and Yuka Iguchi (Girls und Panzer). The director of the series will be Keizo Kusakawa (Dog Days, Akuma no Riddle) and animated by Diomedea (Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Akuma no Riddle).
The date of airing is set on 7 January 2015.
Kantai Collection: Kan Colle is notable for its usage of girls to represent real life World War II warships and the game now has 1.7 million players. The game franchise has spread far and wide, and has had a manga adaptation, light novels and now an anime series. There’s even a PS Vita game being worked on right now.
