Mary Poppins Returns
Popping in a good 50+ years from its initial release, this is a sequel to Disney’s original Mary Poppins. Granted I really liked the movie (well, there really isn’t all that much to not like about it) and it certainly was enjoyable for the younger me. I personally liked the half-animated parts the most, and the songs but how does our magical governess fit in for a sequel?
The new show takes place in the Depression era, with a grown Jane and Michael Banks (along with Michael’s three kids) where Mary Poppins once again appears to help the family rediscover joy following a personal loss. I haven’t the slightest how they are going to repackage this film but I hope no childhoods get ruined from this revival of the franchise.
