What’s next?
So what’s next for the team? Will it be back to more servicing work, preproduction on Season 2 or could they be starting work on the inevitable spin-off for what must be the most popular character: Miles?
In between bouts of laughter, Joe says that there is actually an episode about Miles. It came complete with flashback scenes when everyone was young, with bell bottoms and all.
Does that mean that season 1 writer, Chi Ren Choong, hasn’t followed through on his (humorous?) questions to the team during the recording of season 1, on whether it was too late to kill off my character, after a minor argument over the placement of a comma?
“Naaaw,” drawls Joe, “anyway Chi Ren was saying the heart of this whole series is not Tag and his friends, but it’s Tag and Miles. That’s the thing that holds everything else together. ”
And for Joe and Charungphong? Based upon my conversation with the pair, it seems that animation is not their only goal when it comes to storytelling, could they see themselves moving into other media as well?
“If… we can?” jokes Joe. “We like all that stuff but it seems like this is the only thing we’re good at, this is the thing we can contribute most to, I guess.
Charukphong adds that it’s the medium of the storytelling, that’s the thing for him, whether it be sock puppets or plasticene. As Charuk notes “The quality of the idea is still the thing to strive for. ”
