Potter fans rejoice! The first, proper, full trailer for the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them has been released on the back of the MTV Movie Awards. The spin-off has Eddie Redmayne play globe-trotting magizoologist Newt Scamander and is based off the 2001 book of the same name, which is the first spin-off book of the Potter universe.
After being teased with images of the movie last year and a teaser trailer a couple of months ago, it’s finally great to see a proper trailer with more of what to expect from the movie. The trailer has done a good job of whetting our appetites for more Potter-
The trailer has done a good job of whetting our appetites for more Potter-esque stuff. Fans of the series will be delighted with the setting as it explores the magical landscape hidden beneath New York in the Roaring 20s, a change from the more contemporary British setting of the main Potter universe.
Then there’s the inclusion of Collin Farrell, who plays Percival Graves, an investigator that seems to know more about Newt’s past than he lets on and which we assume Newt will have to face-off in the movie.
This prequel/spin-off comes after five years since the conclusion of the Harry Potter films and it’s not just one movie, but the first of a trilogy. With Potter veteran David Yates at the directing helm, we’re hoping that not only will we be getting some familiar Harry Potter goodness but a nice fresh take on the very popular franchise.
