After spending ages in development hell the solo Gambit film is back and it’s getting a do-over.
After losing two separate directors and a whole slew of other problems, star Channing Tatum revealed that the movie is basically getting restarted from scratch; after the success of X-Men spinoffs Logan and Deadpool opening new avenues for the Gambit solo film.
The Gambit film has been in development since January 2015, with a potential release set for 2016, but that fell through after Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) left the project due to schedule conflicts. Dough Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) then joined the project, but left because he couldn’t “connect” with the script.
No planned release date for the project yet but at the rate it’s going, we’ll be glad if it’s even able to develop to fruition.
