With four possible options for a spinoff series for HBO’s massively popular Game of Thrones, HBO has decided that it will just be ordering one.
Casey Bloys, president of programming for HBO, confirmed this, despite there being a handful of possibilities swirling about in the ether. Of course, their standards for the spinoff will be pretty high, considering that people will be expecting the same quality from the main show.
Unfortunately, they haven’t revealed any other details on the spinoff series yet, but it will be based on another one of George R.R Martin’s stories that are set in Westeros. But what Martin did reveal was that the series won’t be centered around Dunk & Egg or Robert’s Rebellion, so we can rule those out.
In the mean time, the network is hard at work at making sure Game of Thrones comes to a worthy conclusion; and with the last season possibly only airing in 2019, the spinoff series has a lot of time to brew. Hopefully it will be able to live up to it’s parent series.
